Volcano eruption

 Hello,

today we will simulate a volcano eruption.

We made a volcano using a Volcanova model, but you can use plastic bottles if you don't have the model.

 We used:

  • a volcano model
  • sand
  • plaster
  • water
  • a spatula
  • paint brush
  • colourant
  • a spoon
  • vinegar
  • sodium bicarbonate
  • plastic bottles
  • connecting tube
We mixed the plaster with the sand and water to build the volcano. Remember to mix it little by little or it'll dry out and you'll have problems.
The reaction between vinegar and bicarbonate produce bubbles and allow to simulate the liberation of gases and lava in the true volcano.
We added yellow colorant to the vinegar, but if you add a red one it will be more realistic.

We hope you like our video

See you soon.

Solubility experiment

I present you a simple experiment to demonstrate the solubility of different substances. This experiment will help us to see if some materials are soluble in water applying the scientific method.

The substances that we use are:
nailvarnish
icing sugar
rice
cotton wool
instant coffee powder
tap water

We also need the following lab (or kitchen) utensils:
measuring jug
5 glasses
teaspoon.

I formulated my hypothesis and you can see in the video the results.
